If you use Amazon.com for shopping, Amazon Smile is an easy way to benefit your favorite charity – like Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation. When you shop using Amazon Smile, qualifying purchases will result in a donation of 0.5% of your purchase to the charity of your choice. Below are some tips and tricks to help you ensure that you are using Amazon Smile correctly.

Signing up for Amazon Smile

If you have an Amazon account but have never registered for Amazon Smile, you will first need to use your computer or laptap to navigate to smile.amazon.com. Sign in with Amazon credentials, and Amazon will walk you through selecting a charity.

Turn Amazon Smile on your Amazon Mobile App

• First activate Amazon Smile via your computer
• Open the Amazon Mobile app
• Find ’Settings’ in the main menu (☰)
• Tap on ‘AmazonSmile’ and follow the on-screen instructions to turn on AmazonSmile on your phone

How do your purchases qualify for Amazon donations?

There are two ways for your purchases to qualify for Amazon to make a donation to your charity.

• Buying from a computer or laptop – When you make a purchase using your computer or laptop, you must go to smile.amazon.com/ to make your purchases. Shopping through the regular Amazon site will not generate Amazon Smile donations.
• Buying from Amazon mobile app – Once you have turned Amazon Smile on in your mobile app, qualifying purchases made through your mobile app will automatically generate donations.

Additional Notes

• Same prices and products – Using Amazon Smile does not impact the pricing or product availability.
• Smile renewal – Amazon Smile on your computer / laptop does not require “renewal,” however Amazon Smile via the mobile app needs to be renewed every 6-months. Amazon will notify when to renew / confirm your selection.
• Are donations tax deductible? – Donations via Amazon Smile are not tax deductible to us, the consumers. 
• Qualifying purchases – Not all Amazon purchases qualify for Amazon donation. As you browse for products on smile.amazon.com, you will see a note on listings that are eligible for Amazon Smile donations.
